Mission Statement

The mission of the Burlington Parks and Recreation Department is to enhance the quality of life for all the citizens of Burlington and for the visitors to our community by:

*Acquiring, developing and maintaining a system of parks that offer a broad spectrum of built facilities and open spaces

*Providing high quality, affordable recreation programs that meet the needs of all segments of the community

*Regulating and managing public trees and property along city streets in an effort to create attractive green spaces

*Managing the Burlington harbor and providing the necessary facilities to ensure safe and pleasurable water-based recreation.

Description

The Burlington Parks and Recreation Department provides year-round recreational opportunities to the citizens of Burlington and visitors to the city. The list of facilities include over 20 parks, boat access areas, beaches, campgrounds, a recreation center, a skate park, dog parks, athletic fields, community gardens, and a bike path. Many programs are offered at either no cost or a minimal fee. Scholarships are available for those in need who qualify.
