Description

Founded by a group of dedicated and visionary Newark residents in the aftermath of the 1967 summer disorders, New Community Corporation is the nation's largest and most comprehensive community development corporation. NCC owns and manages more than 3,000 units of housing and employs 2,300 people. The array of community-based services and programs provided by New Community includes housing, early childhood education, transitional housing for the homeless, job training, education, health care, community arts, youth programs and a host of social services for children, families and senior citizens. NCC has been the primary force in revitalizing Newark's Central Ward. Its assets are valued at more than $500,000,000 and its programs and services touch the lives of 50,000 Newark and Essex County residents every day.
