Mission Statement

High Achievement’s mission is to develop critical academic habits and attitudes in vulnerable middle school children ('scholars’) from underserved inner city neighborhoods in order to improve their grades, standardized tests scores, and attendance, and increase their educational opportunities through acceptance and scholarships to private, parochial, and public high school programs.

Description

Higher Achievement is a high school preparatory program for underserved middle-school children during out-of-school time, serving over 900 students nation-wide. Higher Achievement’s Summer and Afterschool Academies operate under three core philosophies: talent is everywhere; intellectual capacities are built through effort; opportunities matter. Guided by these philosophies, Higher Achievement instills a culture of praise and challenge within the Summer and Afterchool Academy. Each day begins and ends with a Community Meeting, when students lead the program, facilitate a discussion of the quote each week, and practice their public speaking skills.
