Mission Statement
The fundamental belief guiding Council Member Palma's work is that it is more powerful to teach a village to fish rather than providing fish for them. Empowering the south Bronx by working side-by-side with government agencies, established CBOs, neighborhood associations, concerned community activists, and by organizing her community around affordable housing, education, neighborhood and school safety, Annabel is fighting for social justice on both the grassroots and legislative level.
Description
New York City Council Member Palma's office has implemented a new and innovative political model to fight for social justice and community empowerment. Her district office, located in the south Bronx, divides its time between constituent services and organizing around issues most important to those she represents. By passing legislation that supports her community member's efforts to fight for social justice, she uses her power as an elected official to make institutional change on the issues that matter most to her community. .
