Mission Statement

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency - a dedicated partnership between scientists and concerned citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans. MDA combats neuromuscular disorders through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. With national headquarters in Tucson, MDA has more than 200 offices across the country, sponsor 230 hospital-affiliated clinics and supports nearly 400 research projects around the world.

The Association’s comprehensive service program includes medical examinations, flu shots, support groups, MDA summer camps for children, and assistance with the purchase and repairs of wheelchairs, leg braces, and communication devices

Description

  • Each year the Muscular Dystrophy Association holds over 90 camp sessions throughout the United States. Beginning in January of each year the local MDA offices began planning their annual week-long summer camp for children with neuromuscular disorders at Camp Living Waters. The camp is held in July and a total of 20 special-needs campers attend and enjoy a magical week of swimming, outdoor sports, arts and crafts, dances, and other events.

We hold several events per year to raise the funds to send kids to camp and fund other needs as well as do 2 walks in Medford and Redding California. Our area reaches up to Brookings, OR down the coast to Humboldt County, Klamath County and Shasta county,
