Mission Statement

DHS is responsible for providing and administering publicly-funded human services to Allegheny County residents. DHS is dedicated to meeting these human services needs, most particularly for the county's most vulnerable populations, through an extensive range of information exchange, prevention, early intervention, case management, crisis intervention and after-care services.

Description

The Refugee Career Mentoring Program is a six-month program for refugees with advanced education and experience that matches them with a volunteer mentor to work together to develop a career path, establish professional connections, and acquire the skills needed for a successful job search in our region. Although refugee participants have advanced skills, they typically do not have local connections or knowledge about how to find a job in their field in the United States, which is what the Refugee Career Mentoring Program seeks to provide. The program is sponsored by Allegheny County DHS, the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board, Vibrant Pittsburgh and other local agencies.
