Out Came the Sun, Inc., a for profit corporation, was established in 1995 to help fill a void in community based developmental services in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Our primary focus was to deliver comprehensive pediatric developmental services in the natural environment, utilizing a child- centered and family empowering approach. Early detection through developmental screenings and evaluations, followed by initiating immediate direct service, proved to be the most effective method in promoting positive outcomes. However, in 15 years of service we found that families with Medicaid, private insurance, or those who were enrolled in federally funded programs were being significantly under-served.
Out Came the Sun applied for and was approved as a non-profit organization in July 2008. Since achieving non-profit status, Out Came the Sun Foundation, Inc. has continued to identify potential non-profit funding sources to support the equitable services to all children living in the metropolitan DC area. Today our mission remains that, through the non- profit supplemental funding provided to Out Came the Sun Foundation, Inc., the most intensive natural environment developmental services appropriate can be delivered to children in Washington, DC regardless of a family’s socio-economic status.
Out Came the Sun Foundation, Inc. is comprised of uniquely warm and passionate professions that provide the utmost intensive therapy. We provide Special Instruction, Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy to families in the Washington, DC area. In addition, to one-on-one theraputic services, we have launched a feeding and language group to meet the needs of all of our families. Out Came the Sun is client centered and family oriented, as our community continues to change, we continue to grow and modify our services in order to accomadate all needs!
