Mission Statement

On The Move (OTM) is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to developing young people as leaders by building exceptional community programs that challenge inequities in their communities.

Description

On The Move is the parent organization that promotes awareness and raises funding for the following programs: McPherson Neighborhood Initiative (MNI) and Voice Our Independent Choice for Emancipation Support (VOICES). All our programs promote youth leadership within the community.

Specifically, MNI works with elementary to high-school-aged youth to help raise academic expectations & develop a pipeline for college and career readiness so that each child is on track to a successful future. They also help increase parent participation in the systems that impact their children and help ensure the diversity of the community is reflected in the leadership of the neighborhood.

Additionally, each year, VOICES serves approximately 1,200 youth emancipating out of foster care, group homes, mental health, and probation. The services that they provide help these youth successfully transition into independent adulthood, while providing them with a loving community and place to call home. There are two VOICES youth centers, one in Napa and another in Santa Rosa.
