Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
We inspire people to action across the Commonwealth, on behalf of native plants and the diversity of life they support. Every garden matters; every landscape counts.
Grow Native Massachusetts is an organization rooted in community. As friends, neighbors, and citizens, we are inspired by the significance of our gardens and green spaces that contribute to the integrity of our common ecosystem.
We cultivate them for beauty and biodiversity, aspiring to create essential habitat for birds, butterflies and wildlife, and to better understand the delicate balance that weaves all life together.
We recognize that native plants create the foundation for healthy ecological communities, and know that our world--both locally and globally--is challenged by a decrease in native plant populations and the proliferation of invasives.
Therefore, we act to:
Steward our land, no matter how big or small, for conservation.
Plant our gardens with an emphasis on natives.
Work together to aid in the identification and removal of invasive weeds.
Build our community through education and dialog.
We conduct a wide variety of outreach and educational programs, including:
Our educational website, www.grownativemass.org.
Evenings with Experts, our free public lecture series.
Community-based workshops about native plants and ecological stewardship practices.
An annual native plant festival and sale.
Garden Gatherings for members to exchange information and learn from each other's expereinces.
