We are in need of (preferably regular/returning) volunteers to help out in our food pantry in order to provide food assistance for those in need within our Hampton Roads community. The Salvation Army is proud to serve over 200 individuals and their families every week by supplying free fresh produce, canned goods, and healthy frozen items while helping those in need maintain their independence and dignity. That's 800 community members per month, providing food for an average of nearly 10,000 people every year who may not know where their next meal is coming from. Clients have been screened for appropriateness by our Social Services department. This is a drive thru experience. This volunteer opportunity may involve lifting, pushing, pulling, walking and standing. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a rain jacket in case of inclement weather. Our office hours are M-F, 8am-4:30pm (this is not a weekend opportunity) **Please contact our volunteer coordinator Erin Sweeney at (757) 793-1961 if you have any questions**
