Mission Statement
The Association for the Advancement of Filipino American Arts and Culture, Inc., also known as FilAmARTS, is a multidisciplinary community arts organization whose mission is to advance the understanding of the diverse arts and unique cultures of Filipino Americans through presentation, education, and the providing of arts as a service to the community.
Description
Overwhelmingly volunteer-driven, Fil Am ARTS provides arts as a service year-round to the community via three major components: PAN - PILIPINO ARTISTS NETWORK, a California Arts Council-commissioned and developed entity which seeks to engage artists of all disciplines for purposes of dialogue and creative interaction. ESKWELA KULTURA/CULTURAL SCHOOL - An institution not limited to four walls offering instruction by qualified artists and educators to youth and families in a variety of fields ranging from Filipino martial arts to traditional and contemporary dance to visual arts and language. FPAC - THE FESTIVAL OF PHILIPPINE ARTS AND CULTURE. The showcase event which preceded the parent organization, FPAC is the largest annual community-wide Filipino American tradition in the region and in 14 years has drawn more than a quarter of a million attendees to a two-day award-winning festival. Sept. 10 and 11th will mark the 14th Annual FPAC.
