Eye Care for Kids Foundation

Eye Care for Kids Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 1998. Since its inception, it has provided free eye examinations and eyeglasses for over 6,000 school children in the Houston area whose parents or guardians could not afford to pay for these services. Our goal is to eliminate blackboard blindness and give all children an equal opportunity to function in the classroom. Eye Care for Kids receives referrals from school nurses and social workers. Once qualified, students are referred to provider optometrists in our network, who have agreed to provide services at reduced Medicaid-allowable rates paid for by Eye Care for Kids Foundation.
