Mission Statement

Our primary mission is as follows:

  1. To provide first and foremost for the needs of English Bulldogs needing our care whether that is from neglect, homelessness, medical or behavioral issues, or for any other reason not mentioned.
  2. To match homeless English Bulldogs within and around our adoption radius with qualified adopters.
  3. To provide a networking medium for CEBR adopters and members that will enable the sharing of English Bulldog information and resources.
  4. To educate the public about overpopulation in animal shelters, the importance of spaying/neutering for all pets, the dangers of purchasing from non qualified breeders, and the importance of rescuing animals in need.
  5. To provide a rewarding and positive environment for CEBR volunteers.

Description

Welcome to the home of the English Bully rescue everyone is talking about! Don’t be fooled by our name, we cover a very large Midwest territory.

Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR for short) has been helping pure-bred bullies and their families for over 5 years. We are a licensed Illinois shelter and a 501c3 charitable organization. The care we provide our English Bully rescues exceeds any you will find from a breed rescue...heck, any rescue! This love includes a high quality diet, the best veterinary care from a bulldog specialist and behavioral evaluations of the highest quality.

We serve Chicago-proper and the surrounding suburbs, the state of Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and Southeast Wisconsin including Milwaukee. Made up of 100 volunteers, CEBR has rehomed over 650 bullies and counseled hundreds of families to provide support, encouragement and training consults to help keep bullies in their homes.

The national economic downturn in the past few years has presented some unexpected challenges for CEBR with an unprecedented rise in bulldog surrenders both by owner families and various animal care and control organizations that turn to CEBR for assistance in appropriate placements. Our dedicated group of volunteers has enabled us to not only respond to this increased need for our services but also to strategically expand both our service area and our exceptional Rescue Program which focuses on puppy mill, dog auction, and large scale surrender situations.
