The AAJP's attorneys provide legal assistance and representation to Arabs in the following areas: • Immigration • Hate crimes and discrimination in employment, housing, the provision of social services, education and health • Family violence Volunteers provide interpreting services to Arabs who are represented by non-Arabic speaking attorneys, or who are providing testimony or speaking with officials in the administration of justice. Attorneys also document discrimination and harassment by government bodies, including law enforcement and immigration agencies, and give legal advice to victims of police misconduct and discriminatory government policy. The AAJP has network partners that refer clients to us as well as work with us to maximize services to clients. We work with the New York Immigration Coalition, the Council on American Islamic Relations, the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the Center for Constitutional Rights, the National Association of Muslim Lawyers, the Brooklyn Law School Federal Litigation Clinic, the Legal Aid Society of New York, and the Families for Freedom Organization. Through our network of social services organizations we are able to provide referrals to mental health, stress management and crisis counseling programs to assist individuals and families affected by hate violence and discrimination. Our attorneys also design and organize community education programs to raise awareness among Arab Americans and Arab immigrants about their rights, and empower them to take action if their rights are violated. These programs include: • "Know Your Rights" workshops • Citizenship classes • Voter registration information • English as a Second Language classes • Counseling for victims of family violence
