Mission Statement

The Junction Teen Lifeskills Center offers a safe and welcoming environment that responds to the needs of youth in the Upper Valley by providing resources and guidance, partnering with youth to create opportunities that inspire them to make healthy choices and find meaningful roles in their community.

At The Junction Teen Lifeskills Center, Upper Valley Youth ages 15-20 are welcomed into a safe space that is both substance and violence free. The Junction is an environment where mutual respect and healthy communications are modeled and encouraged, creating a sense of belonging that we hope will inspire youth toward finding a meaningful role in their community.

As Junction staff and volunteers we bring honesty, curiosity and patience to our relationships with the youth we serve. We partner with youth by building positive, trusting relationships, while also guiding youth toward self-reflection, self-advocacy and personal growth as they navigate their transition into adulthood. At the heart of our program is the belief that if youth make connections with supportive, caring and trustworthy adults, they will learn to make healthy life choices.

In operation since 2006, The Junction hosts about 50 youth per month - some who visit a few times a month, others who come almost everyday. Originally created as a resource for youth who are homeless or have dropped out of school, The Junction has evolved into a place where all youth, no matter their background or current situation, come in to relax, participate in activities and seek out resources and services to meet their needs. Though the Junction has evolved to a much broader clientele, we remain committed to working with those youth who may be the hardest to reach or serve.
