Mission Statement

To provide persons with serious mental illnesses, who have been living on the streets, a secure residential environment. We serve as a point of contact for engaging this population in treatment, rehabilitation, and supportive services. Our efforts enable clients to move into more traditional housing resources in community settings.

Description

Safe Haven is a collaborative project of Mental Health Kokua and Kalihi-Palama Health Center, serving persons who are homeless and suffering from mental illness.

While I have never volunteered at Safe Haven I did have the honor of working there as the housing specialist for over three years. It was wonderful. The staff are very caring and go above and beyond when it comes to the clients. This is an excellent place to work and volunteer.
