Mission Statement

the mission of the California Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creatiing opportunities for high-quality outdooor recreation.

Description

The Salton Sea State Recreation Area is a beautiful park located in the low desert near the desert cities of Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta and Indio. We are pretty remote but yet just a half hour drive to all the cities have to offer.

We have several campgrounds, a visitor center, camp store and fishing jetty. The Sea is the largest body of water in California and is 50% saltier than the ocean.

Our busy season is from October to April when the winter weather is just about as good as it gets anywhere.

We have full hookup campsites for our volunteers and laundry facilities.
