It is our mission to foster appreciation and concern for all living things. We are dedicated to providing: *the highest standards of care for our animals and plant collections *a diverse educational and high-quality recreational experience for all Riverbanks visitors *all the resources at our disposal for the conservation of the earth's flora and fauna.
Riverbanks Zoological Park & Botanical Garden offers an entertaining and unique educational experience for the entire family. More than 2,000 animals are housed in natural habitat exhibits that use psychological barriers such as moats, water and light to create an environment free of bars and cages for animals. Opened in June 1995, Riverbanks' 70-acre Botanical Garden features scenic views of the Saluda River, wooded trails, historic ruins, the Saluda Factory Interpretive Center and a spectacular walled garden and visitors center.
