Mission Statement

To facilitate independence and promote full participation in all spheres of life for those who experience vision loss.

Description

The Arizona Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ACBVI) serves adults that are Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI), DeafBlind (DB), or live with Combined Vision and Hearing Loss (CVHL) due to accident, illness, or other trauma since 1947 through a variety of programs aimed at addressing whole person health, regaining independence, and returning to work. Our mission is to facilitate independence and promote full participation in all spheres of life for those who experience vision loss. We are the longest tenured agency in Arizona helping this community prepare for and re-enter into employment, and the only agency in the state serving those living with Combined Vision and Hearing Loss (CVHL) up to and including the DeafBlind (DB). Over the years we have established ourselves as a center of excellence for those living with multiple disabilities (in addition to their vision loss), that are experiencing or coming out of homelessness, and/or have a history of mental illness. Our program starts with an individual centered approach meeting the client where they are and helping them achieve their goals and objectives. Our service delivery model ensures that all programming relates to three pillars, or as we like to say, the three legs of the stool; regaining independence, reentering employment, and whole person health.
