Mission Statement

World Wide Workshop develops applications for learning with technology that combine game mechanics and social networking to empower youth to be inventors and leaders in the global knowledge economy. Our programs transform education by connecting youth to learning, community engagement and economic development through game production.

Description

The World Wide Workshop developed the Globaloria program as a social learning network where students develop digital literacy, STEM knowledge and global citizenship skills through game design. Globaloria was rigorously designed to be a scalable program and first successfully implemented in West Virginia. In 2011 it was widely implemented nationwide through 60 schools in West Virginia, Texas, New York and Florida, and also introduced in 2 schools (Christopher Elementary, AdVENTURE STEM at Herman Intermediate) and two Boys and Girls Clubs (Smythe, Levin) in San Jose. For the 2012-2013 implementation, we are expanding from 200 to 1300 students and working with the Oak Grove School District, East Side Union High School District, KIPP Bay Area Schools and the local Boys & Girls Clubs.
