To assist underserved youth and young adults obtain the skills necessary to compete in today's highly technologically motivated workforce.
Northwest Pasadena and Altadena are technologically underserved communities in one of the country's most abundantly high-tech region. The city of Pasadena is the home for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (J.P.L.) and Caltech University. Some underserved segments of Northwest Pasadena and Altadena do not have the same opportunities as their counterparts in the greater Pasadena area. Access to technology provides children the opportunity to infuse their daily lives with the means and preparation to compete in the job market of the future, to work on and complete homework assignments. Without computers and Internet access, youth and young adults cannot obtain the technical training they need to get the jobs that are available to others. What has been termed the Digital Divide will only be addressed by overturning educational disadvantages brought about by fear of technology and the inability to master it.
