Mission Statement

Casa Marianella seeks to create a community of respect, hospitality, and mutuality with homeless immigrants and to network with other service organizations.

Casa Marianella provides hospitality and services to homeless immigrants in the Austin area. Casa Marianella has been serving 400 - 500 people a year since 1986. For the first seventeen years Casa Marianella served primarily men and some women. In 2003 Casa Marianella expanded its services to provide shelter and support to single mothers and their children in a separate facility called Posada Esperanza. In addition to housing, Casa Marianellaâ  s Menâ  s House provides food, clothing, English classes, and Spanish literacy classes. Collaborating with the other social service providers in Austin, the program assists its clients in gaining access to comprehensive services. Extended stays and special care is provided to clients with debilitating injuries and illnesses. Casa Marianellaâ  s Family House, Posada Esperanza provides shelter and support to homeless immigrant women and their children, many of whom have been traumatized by domestic violence and sudden abandonment. Posada Esperanza serves families in a home-like environment that aims to support the entire well being of the families. The program recognizes the complex difficulties that are inherent in being homeless as a single mother with children. Stress and instability make it difficult for homeless children to learn and grow to their full potential. Posada Esperanza serves four families at a time. Forty individuals a year benefit from Posadaâ  s services each year. Posada Esperanzaâ  s programming aims to alleviate the stress of homelessness, address the causes of homelessness, empower the mothers to create safe and stable homes for their families, and create the opportunity for the children to learn and grow.
