Mission Statement
To provide an opportunity for civic leadership development for more unrepresented youth through creating a high quality and highly accessible program featuring an annual mock congress at the Iowa State Capitol Building.
Description
Iowa Youth Congress (IYC) is a program functioning out of the Iowa Department of Human Rights and serves to model accessible programming for youth as well as give more youth access to education in civics, leadership, and citizenship. Every year, IYC has a mock congress at the capitol and spends the rest of the year recruiting, training, and preparing for this event. This year, we are adding on a student governing body onto IYC as well as a new student orientation to give more youth more access to leadership roles and preperation for these roles.
