Description

Mid Valley Mentors recruits volunteers to mentor children and adults affected by incarceration.

We provide training, support and transition services through one-on-one mentoring as well as support for mentor programs. As an agency, we strive to improve the conditions for all in our community by supporting the growth and development of individuals impacted by incarceration through nurturing relationships.

Mid Valley Mentors is a community-based 501c(3) nonprofit agency which has been providing mentoring in Marion County since 2004. Our mentoring programs adhere to evidence-based practices and exceed state and federal quality assurance standards for mentoring programs.

We operate two programs:

Juvenile Enrichment through Mentoring (JEM) - This program serves youth ages 4-18 who have been impacted by incarceration. This means that either they are on probation with the Juvenile Department or a caregiver is currently incarcerated. This program requires a 12 month commitment and you are encouraged to meet for one hour a week.

Reentry Solutions Program (RSP) - This program serves adults as a partner program of the Marion County Reentry Initiative. The goal of RSP is to help adults successfully transition out of incarceration back into Marion County. This program requires only a 6 month commitment and the meeting times with your mentee are very flexible, one hour a week or 2 hours every 2 weeks.
