Our mission is to help and protect children, ages birth to 17, who are abused, neglected, dependent or in need of supervision.
Shelter, Inc., a nonprofit, licensed and accredited child welfare agency, provides community-based, emergency and temporary housing for children and adolescents from birth through age 17 in the Northwest Suburbs who are abused, neglected, dependent, or in need of supervision. Shelter provides foster care to children from birth through age 17, emergency group homes for adolescents ages 11 through 17, and an Older Adolescent Group Home for boys ages 16 and 17. Shelter also provides a Healthy Families Program, a home visitation and parenting education program for first-time parents, and community education to address issues concerning child abuse, neglect, and other social problems that impact children and their families.
