Mission Statement
The mission of Sunstone Service Dogs is to empower people with disabilities by the partnership with and training of service dogs, to increase independence and quality of life.
Description
We provide highly trained service dogs to people with disabilities.
Our program is two-fold.
We fully train the dogs and place them with an individual to mitigate that person's disability. The only exception is a child under the age of fourteen or a person who requires a caregiver to handle the dog. We then work with the primary caregiver to handle the dog.
We unlike most other programs work with people who experience multiple disabilities.
People who would like to be apart of the training may apply to raise a carefully selected and placed puppy and attend classes to learn the skills of training service dogs.
Fully Trained - We will train a dog to mitigate a persons disability and place the best match possible in a one to two week training session. Depending on the situation the placement session will be altered to fill the highest standards and the lifestyle of the client. It takes two years to fully train a service dog.
