Chapter Board Member The Chapter Board of Directors is the governing body of the Chapter responsible for ensuring that all Chapter activities are conducted in accordance with the HDSA Strategic Plan, Chapter Agreement, Plan of Work, and HDSA policies and procedures. The Chapter Board is led by an Executive Committee consisting of the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. All members will serve on at least one committee (Team Hope Walk, Fundraising, Advocacy, Etc...) Board members ensure the financial health of the chapter and identify the best community resources for their area. Generally the term of service is two years, with the ability to be re-elected two times for a total of 6 years of service. What are some of the Specific Responsibilities? Attend and participate in board meetings and/or calls. Serve on at least one committee: fundraising, advocacy, team hope, volunteer development, community services, & communications. All board members participate in chapter fundraising events, including helping to secure corporate support, attendance, event day help, and encouraging event registration. Recruit and engage new board members, committee members, and volunteers. Be an HDSA ambassador in the community. Participate in regional calls and share call updates with chapter committee members. Communicate and partner with the national HDSA staff. Participate in planning for the health and longevity of the chapter.

Team Hope Planning Committee We're looking for energetic people to help with planning for this year’s event! Expectations and roles include: Identify and engage corporate sponsors and in-kind donors. Recruiting and welcome new participants. Recruit/prepare event day volunteers. Work with HDSA communications staff on event promotions and media opportunities. Run the event on event day. Partner with HDSA Regional Development Officers. Specific tasks directly related to the type of event vary. What is the Time Commitment? In the months leading up to the event, there will be more time spent on meetings and activities. Event Attendance: 2-6 hours Committee Meetings: 4-6 meetings total, 60-90 minutes each Tasks (Sponsor Asks, Recruitment Calls, etc...) as needed (1-3 hours per week). The Team Hope Walk program is HDSA’s signature grassroots fundraising campaign designed to provide hope and support for those touched by this devastating disease. All proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by HD and their families. Since their inception in 2007, Team Hope Walks have occurred in over 100 different cities and have raised more $18 million for the cause.

Chapter Vice President - Job Description General Function: The Chapter Vice President shall take a leadership role in recruiting, mentoring and supporting new volunteers. They actively participate in Chapter activities and assist the Chapter President in providing leadership to ensure that all Chapter activities are conducted in accordance with the HDSA Strategic Plan, Chapter Agreement, Plan of Work, and HDSA policies and procedures. In the President’s absence, serve as the top volunteer officer for the Chapter. Term of Service: One Year - may be re-elected two times for a total of 3 years serving. Duties and Responsibilities: * In the absence of the Chapter President, lead the Chapter Board of Directors (also see Chapter President Job Description) by doing the following: Schedule and run regular Board Meetings Recruit new volunteers, Fill committee roles and ensure that all committees are working together for a common goal as planned via the Chapter Plan of Work and Budget. Lead the Chapter in developing an annual Plan of Work, Budget and Events Calendar that is approved by the Chapter Board of Directors and submitted to the Regional Development Officer by required deadlines. Follow the requirements of the HDSA Chapter Agreement, Plan of Work, Budget and Conflict of Interest. * Execute and participate in Chapter fundraising, education, advocacy and awareness events as planned in the Plan of Work, Budget and Events Calendar * Take leadership roles in recruiting, mentoring and supporting new volunteers. * Partner with the Chapter & Affiliate Advisory Committee (CAC) and Regional Development Officer. * Learn the role of the President to be able to run for that position, if desired. * Use HDSA Connect for finding tools to help with volunteer work. * Signor on Chapter bank account. * Participate in Regional calls and share call updates with Chapter Committee members.

In addition, the Chapter President provides leadership to ensure that all Chapter activities are conducted in accordance with the HDSA Strategic Plan, Chapter Agreement, Plan of Work, and HDSA policies and procedures. Term of Service: One Year - may be re-elected two times for a total of three years serving. Duties and Responsibilities: * Lead the Chapter Board of Directors by the following: Annually review the Chapter Agreement and Conflict of Interest with the entire Chapter Board and sign, along with Treasurer, as a representative of the Chapter. Lead the Chapter in developing an annual Plan of Work, Budget and Events Calendar along with the Regional Development Officer. The Plan of Work, Budget and Events Calendar is approved by the Chapter Board of Directors and submitted to the National Office by required deadlines. Ensure regular board meetings are scheduled. Prepare an agenda and other materials and communicate timely to the Chapter BOD. Fill, Committee roles and work to ensure that all committees are working together for a common goal as planned via Plan of Work and Budget. * Represent the Chapter at HDSA meetings, such as Annual Convention, Leadership Day trainings, and other meetings. * Recruit new Board members. * Work with Nomination committee to establish a succession plan for Chapter leadership. * Mentor and develop Vice President so they are prepared to run for the President’s role in the future. * Communicate and partner with Chapter & Affiliate Advisory Committee (CAC) and Regional Development Officer. * Participate in Regional meetings and share information with Chapter Leadership and Committee members. * Use HDSA Connect for finding tools to help with volunteer work. * Signor on Chapter bank account.
