Description
CPY-BBBS finds caring adult volunteers that are interested in making a difference in the lives of 6 -18 yr old youth by spending recreational time with them. Adults and youth are matched through an application and interview process. We provide and require a mentor training for new volunteers to prepare them for their new mentoring relationships.
After being trained, the time required from a volunteer to spend with their youth will be between 12-15 hours per month for a full calendar year. This includes monthly outings and a weekly telephone call to their youth. Attendance at a monthly mentor support meeting is strongly encouraged.
There are a variety of referral sources for the youth served through our agency, such as schools and the juvenile justice system. Each has slightly different profiles and requirements. We do not require any special skills from the mentor; however; there is a minimum age requirement of 21 years.
