The Rescue Mission operates Monday - Friday, with two shifts, 10am - 12:30pm and 1:30-3:30pm Volunteers can be expected to help unload delivery trucks, organize food and assembly grocery bags in the morning. In the afternoon volunteers prepare hot dinner meals, serve residents for a sit-down meal, converse and connect with residents while they eat, and help clean the facility once dinner finishes. The Rescue Mission food bank is our most direct community program in terms of contact with Tenderloin residents and so you may come across individuals that aren't practicing correct COVID-19 protocols. City Impact follows CDC guidelines and requires our volunteers to do so as well. For First Time Volunteers pls click here to sign up! Our Mission To intervene through building relationships that will lead people to life transformation. We gather from 2-5pm every 2nd &4th Sundays at 230 Jones St., San Francisco, CA 94102. Ways to Get Involved 1. GATHER Gather with us at 230 Jones St at 2pm on Sundays. You'll break out into teams and walk to the nearby apartment buildings to deliver food and connect with the residents. 2. INVITE PEOPLE Invite friends and local church members to serve alongside and partner with City Impact to adopt a building in the inner city of San Francisco. DETAILS Since some of the main problems for residents are isolation & loneliness, our goal is to visit residents in SROs (Single Resident Occupancy) buildings, focusing on having conversations with them in order to build relationships. In ministering to them in this way & bringing them food, they see the love of God through us. AAB runs every 2nd and 4th Sunday, starting at 2pm. Interested in volunteering on a weekly basis? On weekdays, we visit residents on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & some Friday afternoons from 1:00-5:00. We always have a training first, then send a small group out with an experienced leader. Please reach out if you are interested!
