Mission Statement

To provide rescue, rehabilitation and release of orphaned, injured, sick and displaced wildlife.

Description

The Wildlife Center of Venice rescues, rehabilitates and releases close to 4,000 injured, sick and orphaned wildlife a year. We were "born" on January 1, 2004. The Center was the long-time joint dream of founders, Kevin Barton and Linda Schrader. We were officially incorporated in March 2004 and became a non-profit organization in July 2004. The WCV has all state and Federal permits to care for and rehabilitate sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.

This is the only organization in Sarasota County and beyond to take in injured wildlife of all kinds and provide medical attention when needed. I brought a mother dove whose wing had been sliced by my gardener along with her chicks, a baby squirrel that needed bottle feeding and a friend brought a turtle and a baby deer. The staff responded immediately, triaged the injured and asked for nothing in return. Do not miss an opportunity to help these folks.
