The Joy of Living Assistance Dogs mission is to provide a skilled, devoted, companion, to support and assist a person with disabilities, creating a cohesive team focused on building a of life of greater freedom and independence.
The Joys of Living Assistance Dogs (JLAD) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the training and placing of Assistance Dogs to persons with disabilities. Many physically disabled Americans rely on dogs for assistance. These dogs rovide the perfect combination of companionship, obedience, usefulness, and affection. Assistance Dogs provide practical aide and help maintain an individual's independence. When matched with a person with a disability, the freedom and companionship the animals' efforts contribute help to bring a new sense of freedon and independence and provide a gateway to a more secure existence. Assistance dogs are trained to perform tasks that assist a life-functioning need. Some of the tasks an assistance dog can provide are: Opening doors, retrieve dropped items, phones,keys. etc., puch buttons for elevators and automatic doors, plus many more tasked specific to the needs of the individual.
