Mission Statement

The mission of Buffalo/Niagara WorldConnect is to increase global understanding and international connections in the Buffalo Niagara region through international exchange programs, global affairs education, and partnerships with the local international community.

Description

As the only Buffalo-based organization authorized to administer the International Visitor Leadership Program of the U.S. Department of State, WorldConnect arranges professional meetings, cultural events, and home hospitality for approximately 150 community leaders from around the world in Buffalo Niagara each year. We offer outstanding opportunities for all people in our region to meet with these visiting professionals, as well as with students and others from around the world, at your place of work, in your home, in schools, or at receptions and other events. Our International Education Center, established with a three-year grant from the John R. Oishei Foundation, is a natural complement to the international visitor programs. The Center organizes programs for K-12 students and teachers, including the Model UN and Academic WorldQuest competition for high school students, global culture programs for children ages 5-10, and workshops for teachers that offer up-to-date global affairs information and useful classroom materials. We also maintain a large library of lesson plans and curriculum materials on global communities and international studies that the community can borrow free of charge.
