Mission Statement

The mission of StandUp For Kids-Atlanta is to help homeless and street kids. This mission shall be carried out by a national volunteer force whose on-the-streets outreach efforts will find, stabilize and assist homeless and streets kids in their efforts to improve their lives. the organization's mission shall also be furthered through deterrence and resource programs provided in schools and via the internet. All facets of this mission shall be guided by the mandate that our volunteers shall tell kids they care about them and then, at every turn, prove it.

Description

StandUp For Kids-Atlanta is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1990 to help rescue homeless and at-risk youth. StanpUp For Kids is run almost entirely by volunteers, and has established more than thirty outreach programs in fifteen states. The purpose of StandUp For Kids is to empower homeless and at risk youth toward life-long personal growth through an on-the-streets outreach program, and to create in these youth a sincere caring and belief in themselves through open straightforward counseling and educational programs, thereby helping them acquire the life skills necessary to become effective members of their community. In addition to helping with immediate necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and personal hygiene, Stand Up For Kids offers a wide variety of services including assistance in finding housing, education assistance, vocational development, counseling, health services, transportation to meetings, and legal assistnce.

Their mission is to end the cycle of youth homelessness. Kelly, the ATL ED is 150% committed to helping every child in ATL. She not only cares about the kids but the volunteers as well.
