Mission Statement

St. Gregory the Great Catholic High School welcomes young men and women of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and faiths into a supportive and engaging learning community where all students are challenged to develop the necessary skills to become advocates for their own success. This is accomplished in an inclusive, academically rigorous environment that fosters a life-long commitment to Christian values and service to others.

Description

In pursuit of its mission, St. Gregory the Great High School strives to create:

  • an educational community that is small and supportive;
  • a learning environment that is safe and secure;
  • a curriculum that is vital, relevant and rigorous;
  • a faculty that is collaborative and committed to excellence;
  • a faith community that models Catholic values;
  • a partnership with alumni and the greater Chicago community.

St. Gregory the Great High School opened in 1937 as the first co-ed Catholic high school in the Archdiocese. SGHS is a school where faith-based education, mission, family, inclusive academics, respect and individual attention have always been key values that best describe the attitude and environment that can be found within its halls and classrooms.
