Volunteers receive training and assistance to file Individual Income Tax Returns for low income, elderly, Veterans or disabled taxpayers. You will learn how to prepare a tax return and learn about special t ax credits people may benefit from. The training and training materials are free and it is available on-line at your leisure or in a classroom as long as you are volunteering. Every tax site (VITA Site/AARP Site) has experienced volunteers to help you, toll free hotlines you can call with questions, and a local IRS Employee you can call to answer questions. Every return is double-checked by an experienced volunteer to ensure accuracy. Classes start in early fall, with a brief refresher course closer to the filing season for any updates-so come join us now! We ask that you volunteer 4 (or more if you can) hours a week from mid January thru April 15th. Learn a new skill, help your community, add experience to your resume! Come help people get the refunds they qualify for and meet our fantastic community partners: Citizens for Citizens, Community Action Program, Diocese of Providence, AARP Tax Aide, RI Senior Centers, YWCA, International Institute, SEDC, etc. Your community needs your help!
