Mission Statement

The mission of the Massihi Gyanjyoti Project is to aid the poor (mainly harijans, the untouchable caste) of rural Bihar build a better future through a variety of projects, especially literacy and education.

Description

The main project is education of the young harijan and tribal children, and works to informally educate over 4000 children in Gaya District villages. In Addition, a boarding school for girls has begun in attempt to get them formal 8th grade certification. Homeopathic medical clinics aid the sick, and projects give animals such as cows, chickens, and pigs, as well as fruit trees to poor families to help increase income. The project also helps women open bank accounts and learn how to use the bank and save money for the future.
