Description

Bay Area Children First (BACF) is a 501 (c) (3) community-based children and families mental health agency with sites on both sides of the Bay. Since 1995 our experienced team of licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) clinicians and interns, led by founder and clinical director Susan Regan, MFT, have been providing Bay Area children and their families quality counseling, psycho-educational, and reunification support services at affordable rates. We have two approved Medi-Cal sites - San Francisco and Berkeley. Our practice in San Francisco is focused mainly on serving the Foster care community of the Bay Area, facilitating therapeutic and support services for children and families involved in the Foster Care reunification program funded through San Francisco County's Family Service Program. In Berkeley we currently serve a mixed private and Medi-Cal client base, (children, families, couples and individuals), dealing with a range of issues including familial traumas and separation such as terminal illnesses, divorce, imprisonment, abuse and death. We also provide on-site counseling services at two elementary schools in Berkeley Unified School District and will be developing school-based programming at additional BUSD locations over the next year. We currently have ten Marriage and Family Therapy interns (MFTIs) working with our clientele, all of whom are supervised by a select group of experienced licensed clinicians. As we understand the critical need for continuity of care between therapist and client, especially for children, we make a point of investing in our interns to ensure quality and retention. All our interns are paid a reasonable hourly rate for their services and receive weekly group trainings, one-on-one supervision and peer support groups to satisfy CAMFT requirements and provide them with the knowledge, training and skills they need to serve our clients well.
