Serving Indianapolis, the state of Indiana and the Midwest, the mission of Indianapolis Opera (IO) is to educate, inspire and entertain through the creation and presentation of musical storytelling for the Hoosier community. IO is committed to bringing high-quality opera and vocal music to Indiana; nurturing the careers of emerging professional artists; and enriching lives through education and outreach.

Centrally located and the only professional opera company in the state, Indianapolis Opera delivers the opera experience to people of all ages, creeds, racial and ethnic groups, gender and socio-economic backgrounds. With a main-stage series showcasing standard and chamber opera, as well as educational programing delivering diverse artistic experiences throughout the state, IO is proud to be a unique cultural resource for the people of Indiana.
