Mission Statement

LA Shorts Fest is dedicated to the celebration and cultivation of the short film. Through a variety of yearlong activities, LA Shorts Fest educates, entertains and honors those who have mastered the craft. Entering its eighth year, LA Shorts Fest is the largest short film festival in the world and one of the few recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences. Last year' s festival garnered over 1,100 film entries and drew more than 10,000 moviegoers, filmmakers and entertainment executives. Through film screenings and panel discussions our filmmakers have an opportunity to interact with their peers, to network with the industry and to entertain audiences.

Description

LA Shorts Fest attracts the highest caliber of short films made each year. Since its' inception, nineteen festival participants have gone on to earn Academy Award nominations and five have won the Oscar for their films. This year, two films that premiere at LA Shorts Fest in 2003 where nominated for an Oscar.
