Mission Statement

Our mission is to encourage volunteerism, help plan and develop fund-raising activities to benefit all of Cherokee County Senior Services' programs and to be ambassadors to the community by bringing awareness of programs and events that benefit Senior Services, their clients and the community.

Description

The funds we raise support aspects of the Meals on Wheels (MOW) program, a 'last stop’ fund for seniors’ unexpected housing and medical expenses, an annual fan drive for those who do not have or cannot afford air conditioning, a food closet, building ramps for the disabled, and much more. Through major fundraisers the VAC also funds larger occasional procurements such as a new hot/cold truck used to transport meals, a freezer, improvements for theSeniorCenter, and other vital items. The majority of funds raised go directly to Senior Services’ programs which are researched by their experienced staff, and a small amount goes to St Michael’s annual senior dinner and other unexpected seniors’ needs that arise throughout the year.
