Mission Statement
The Elk Grove Food Bank Services (EGFBS) mission is to provide essential resources to overcome the many faces of hunger and human need.
Description
The Food Bank was founded by the Elk Grove Ministerial Association in 1974. Initially, it operated as a small emergency food pantry from the Methodist Church in Old Town Elk Grove, providing food to homeless and low-income people living within the Elk Grove community in the 95624 zip code. The first Board of Directors was formed in 1990 and EGFBS obtained non-profit status (501c3) in 2004. Today, EGFBS celebrates over 45 years of operation providing food, clothing and social service referral services to almost 6,000 people a month including migrant workers, home bound seniors, medically fragile AIDS patients, unemployed, students, veterans and homeless individuals, from its warehouse on Dino Drive in Elk Grove and at distribution sites throughout the Elk Grove region.
