Description
Students RUN Philly Style is modeled after the highly successful Students RUN LA program, Students RUN Philly Style (SRPS) will provide mentorship opportunities for youth in North Philadelphia, the East Falls and Haddington sections of Philadelphia. So what will the mentorship relationship provide to youth? An opportunity for spending ongoing time with a consistent, reliable adult; time to learn some health education; and time to train for a marathon. Adult mentors will train alongside youth 3-4 times per week for runs of increasing length leading up to the Philadelphia Marathon held each November. The goal is Philadelphia children with better grades, better graduation rates than non SRPS students, and have high goal setting behaviors. Not to mention the increased physical activity and all of the benefits that go along with that!
