West Contra Costa Salesian Boys & Girls Club

I volunteered recently at the Salesian Boys and Girls Club in Richmond, CA. The children are all very sweet, but some of the regular staffers are very harsh. On my first day, one of the staffers was reprimanding the child for about 10 minutes straight, and he asked me for my opinion on what to do with the child and his attitude. The staffer then told me to be harsh with the kids because it is the only way they will learn. Also, in the homework room there is not enough people but I guess that depends on how many volunteers there are. Besides that, everything is fine. The children have lots of toys/games/activities to play with, and I liked how they got a snack time. Overall the program is good, but some of the staffers need to be nicer to the kids.
