Mission Statement

The mission of Frequent Flyers is to create and promote the magic of aerial dance through performance and education. Our vision is to help people to see the world, and themselves, from a new perspective, by experiencing the upside-down realm of aerial dance. We believe that this expanded consciousness helps people to maximize their creative potential.

Description

Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance was founded in 1988 by artistic director Nancy Smith, and incorporated as a 501c(3) non-profit in 1990. Frequent Flyers has been teaching and performing aerial dance for over 30 years, and has a robust community outreach program. Our performers venture indoors and out, blending aerial work seamlessly with dance. Frequent Flyers Education programs encompass aerial classes for the community, the Professional Training program, the international Aerial Dance Festival, the all-ages Student Company, camps, workshops, private lessons and team-building events. Outreach programs include Kids Who Fly, Aerial Sci-Arts, community sampler classes, demonstration/discussion workshops, and more. Education and outreach are based at Frequent Flyers' aerial dance studios, which offer classes for everyone aged 5 and up. FFP is one of fewer than 30 professional aerial dance companies in the US. The company produces the first (and still the largest) Aerial Dance Festival in the world, which is now in its 21st year. We have taught more than 20,500 people from all walks of life the joy of flying. Over 205,000 people have experienced the magic of aerial dance in performance. The Professional Company recently performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and received a standing ovation.
