Mission Statement
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Description
The American Cancer Society is working around the clock to help people stay well and get well, to find cures, and to fight back.
We help them take steps to prevent cancer or find it at its earliest, most treatable stage.
The American Cancer Society is here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to help guide patients through every step of a cancer experience. Whether they’ve recently been diagnosed, are currently going through treatment, or are caring for a loved one with cancer, we are here with information, day-to-day help, and emotional support every step of the way.
We fund and conduct research that helps us better understand, prevent, and cure cancer.
We work with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and rally communities worldwide to join the fight.
We're working every day to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
