Mission Statement: To educate, inform, and inspire youth and young adults by delivering innovative programs in academics, financial literacy, and mentoring. We believe that delivering both financial and educational support to students, can aid not only in their academic careers, but also in their personal development. Our programs educate and empower students to achieve sound and promising futures.
Andson is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2009 with the purpose of improving academic achievement and financial literacy among at-risk youth in Southern Nevada. Our core programs include:
Andson Money - Our flagship financial literacy program is designed to help fill the gap in financial literacy education among youth in Southern Nevada. During the 2016-2017 school year, we served more than 4,500 youth and at community centers, schools, and other locations, providing effective financial learning based on a nationally recognized curriculum.
The Piggy Bank Program - The Piggy Bank Program combines monthly financial literacy education with weekly savings opportunities - a real savings account for every child in the school, which lets them make deposits once a week. The combination of practice and learning, targeted at an age where the lessons will have the longest-lasting impact, reinforces the children’s good habits and even encourages these children’s families to start saving.
Andson Academics - Through after school homework help and small-group tutoring, Andson is able to provide educational support services for students during the entire school year. The Andson Academics program targets low-income, at-risk students who are far below their peers in grade level literacy and math skills.
