Mission Statement

To provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.

The UNEP Governing Council was established in accordance with UN General Assembly resolution 2997 (XXVII) of 15 December 1972 (Institutional and financial arrangements for international environmental cooperation). The Governing Council reports to the General Assembly through the Economic and Social Council. Its 58 members are elected by the General Assembly for four-year terms, taking into account the principle of equitable regional representation. Full information on the composition, functions and responsibilities of the UNEP Governing Council and the Committee of Permanent Representatives, formally established and strengthened as a subsidiary organ to the Governing Council by decision 19/32 of 4 April 1997, is available at www.unep.org/governingbodies.

I believe United Nations Environment Programme has the best to offer to volunteers in terms of security and diverse learning, about current issues affecting the environment and nature as a whole. The environment offers great skills gain to new people and the volunteers are also given the opportunity to express and share knowledge that they pertain about a particular resource or even different aspects of life. The organisation also lets somebody work expressing their different interests in different fields. Most of all UNEP feels like home as have heard from different people who have been there ,as everyone is friendly and one feels like a family at work.Everyone should strive to volunteer here as it of a good impact and whenever an employer sees you once volunteered at UNEP ,they feel your the right person ,because of the good name of the organisation.
