Our mission is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide, and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations.
Little Free Library is a registered nonprofit organization that promotes and supports a network of thousands of Little Libraries, fostering reading, literacy and neighborhood connections and sharing. The organization has a small staff, both paid and operational volunteers, and a vast group of little library stewards and advocates who are instrumental in continuing the health and growth of the concept of Little Free Library.
In 2013, USA Today called Little Free Library a "growing movement" only one year after its inception as a nonprofit. And grow it did: Today 25,000 Little Free Libraries stand as part of a global phenomenon that keeps gaining momentum. Little Free Libraries now stand in front yards all across the globe - from Iceland to Pakistan to Tasmania - strengthening neighborhoods, spreading literacy and the love of reading, and bringing people together. To learn more about Little Free Library visit littlefreelibrary.org or follow us on Istagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.
