Mission Statement

1. To provide free health care services to the medically uninsured, particularly immigrants with low English proficiency. 2. To provide students an opportunity to gain experience in community and culturally competent medicine and to learn about the challenges of practicing with a minority patient population.

Description

Founded in 2003, Pacific Free Clinic is a Stanford student-run clinic providing free health care services for adults in the East San Jose area with low-income, no insurance, and/or low English proficiency. Open to all regardless of immigration status, the clinic offers on-site medical interpretation services in Spanish, Vietnamese, and Mandarin Chinese to help patients overcome cultural and language barriers to health care access. Pacific Free Clinic is a program of Stanford University School of Medicine and School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County.
