Description

The Arts and Crafts Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the cultural enrichment of the community. Founded in 1907 is is one the oldest visual arts organizations in the state of Connecticut.

In June 1981, after a long search, the Association purchased a building at 53 Colony Street. This enabled it to expand the regular monthly meetings and annual exhibit to a full schedule of classes, exhibits, workshops and other art related activites. Considerable time and effort went into the renovation of the building with most of the work done by dedicated volunteers. More work needs to be done to fully utilize the building.

The Arts and Crafts Association is supported by membership, tuition fees, art related fund raising events and private donations. Grants from the state, city and local corporations provide for special projects.
